About
Skipton
Situated overlooking the Leeds-Liverpool canal, just a
few minutes walk along the canal you will find yourself
in the historic market town of Skipton.
As you walk along the High Street you will find numerous
alleys and interesting courtyards. At the top of the High
Street stands the medieval church, with Skipton Castle to
its East end, on of the most complete and well preserved
medieval castles in England.
We don't always get the sunshine in England, but there is
always something to do in and around Skipton, whatever the
weather. Skiptons many attractions include a Waterways Festival in May and Sheep Day in July.
There are boat trips along the canal, or why not take a stroll along the towpath.
Skipton has a small museum, a park, good sports facilities including swimming and golf, a cinema and plenty of restaurants and inns.
Skipton has far more shops than anyone would expect in a small town. There is a great street market open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday throughout the year.
There is also the popular Christmas Medival Festival and Market in December, just the place for some serious retail therapy..
